Carnival (Karneval) Munster, Germany Munster is a city famed for its spectacular carnival celebrations. The Rosenmontag Parade, on the Monday before Ash Wednesday, represents the climax with carnival floats and bands parading through the streets. A party atmosphere fills the town, aided and abetted by numerous carnival societies from Munster and its surroundings. There is also a big contingent from Holland, and Dutch revellers often make up about a quarter of the parade. Additional entertainment comes from fairground rides, booths and live music performances around the periphery of the parade.
